Tonight I had myself an Atlantis marathon. I've been saving episodes up since "First Contact" and I sat down to watch them all back to back. I was in my happy place. So happy, I had Jazzy telling me to shut up and stop annoying her. I tend to be a little verbal when watching my show. If you like silence, I am the *WRONG* person for you to ever watch something with. I will drive you INSANE.

So, it was all good - until Brain Trust.

AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Okay. So, I think I need to just go and read some reviews to find out what happened in tonight's episode, because I got about 20 minutes in and screamed "GAAAHH!!!" and turned it OFF. Even *before* I'd turned it off, I had actually covered my eyes and moaned, "Oh god no, Rodney! RODNEY! NOOOO!!" for, like, 5 minutes.

I TURNED. IT. OFF!

I could not watch anymore. It was painful. Literally caused me intense physical discomfort to watch. AND I EVEN HAD A FREAKIN' MARTINI BEFORE HAND!!

As a point of note, I have a bad reaction to embarrassing situations. It just grates at me like nails on a chalkboard x 10. And I was *so* embarrassed for me to watch McKay not be able to speak to the challenge about similar work because he *CAN'T* divulge this information. Especially after the run in with Blll Nye.

OMG BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY!! SCIENCE RULES! *cough*

Oh frack. I'm just not going to be able to watch the rest. I'll have to put it on and listen from the kitchen tomorrow while the kids are arguing and I'm doing dishes, because I don't think I can handle it straight up.

Now, it was amusing to see John all interested in whether Rodney was going to make a move (just reinforces that he's watching Rodney) and Ronon all "who cares" about it. He's takin' it *hard*, having lost out to McKay. That's gotta be a major blow to his ego.

Can I just say, unequivocally, that I HATE HATE HATE the McKeller ship? I like Keller. Way better than Katie, cuz at least Jewel Stait has some pizazz, but I'm so hard core McShep that it just yanks me out of my happy place to see anything it.

Now, the previous episodes were fantabulous, even if I have to say I saw Remnants coming a mile away. I *knew* there was something wrong. Knew it, knew it, KNEW it!!

TOD you BASTARD! Why didn't you listen?? And hello, evil!Asgard? Holy crap, man! Rodney in the suit - Wolsey's gonna get him a can opener? Brilliant!

Poor Ronon. He got dumped. Damn, what's wrong with you Keller? He's perfect for you! Get your frickin' paws off my Rodney! *cough*

MICHAEL! AIEEEE!! And Teyla! YAY! Yeah, baby! Take THAT, you bastard! Don't fuck with momma bear! She'll take your ass OUT!

And Ronon! Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!

Remote control cars. OMG. Oh, BOYS! I love them so hard!! HEE!!There are no adequate words. OMG, Sheppard is such a cheater! Doesn't that say something interesting about Rodney though? That he has a sense of fair play? I thought that it was an interesting thing to notice about him.

And Inquisition. Holy Crap man! Dude, I read a fic kinda like that! Several I think! I *TOTALLY* think that they were trolling the fic sites to get ideas. Bwahaha! Too bad it was just a clip show, though. They could have done *SO* much more with it. It had the potential to really go somewhere. Instead, they're hanging out in a *cell* and John's standing on a platform trying to defend their actions and kinda getting clobbered.

Oh John. Words are *SO* not your friend.

OMG. How much did I love the whiskey and cigar scene at the end? *flutter* That, my friends, was a thing of beauty. I can *totally* see Wolsey doing that after winning a big case. John looks good smoking a cigar. The two of them out there on the balcony, being all Men's Club

So, over all. They have gone out of their way to establish that John and Rodney go out of their way to spend off duty time together doing juvenile guy things, and this makes me very happy. They have done more with Wolsey's character on the show then they did with Sam's - sadly, because she's awesome - and it's been great. I really like him more and more every time I see him.

And I am overall happy. Just have to try and struggle through the rest of that episode tomorrow.

Gah.

Ugh - I don't like McKay/Keller either. She was annoying me throughout this episode because she was so patronizing. Didn't.Like.That.

There was a good opportunity lost with Ronon/Keller, and I just don't get any sort of romantic vibe at all with the decision they've decided to go.

Hey, whatever happened to Bontanist Lady? Did they just drop that ship after the non-engagement? (Wasn't really chemistry there, either, but she didn't talk down to Rodney.)

No shit! It was like, "Where the hell is the Keller that zings back? Who is this bitchy creature?!"

(Yeah, Martin Gero for the suck here! This is obviously how he views women & also, still stuck in the early 20's "Dude!" mindset.)

I like Keller... she's come a ways from the timid creature of last season, but turning her into a nagging bitch? Oh hell no, Gero should be shot, hung & quartered for the writing of this ep.

It was mentioned in Trio that Katie Brown transferred back to Earth after the relationship fell apart.

I do like McKeller because she just has a better handle on how to deal w/ our favorite scientist & also understands being the "youngest kid in class by years" thing. She doesn't feed into his "OMG! We're all gonna die!" mindset like Katie did in Quarantine.

Just wish that Gero had done better with the script and not made Keller out to be a shrew in this ep and to totally screw over Rodney in the process.

(I'm not even going to go into the technical aspects of what was wrong w/ this ep - I wouldn't be able to stop bitching! I.e. - a hollow core WOODEN door in place of what's supposed to be a STEEL fire door? :-p)

Oh, SGU, I dread your arrival with more scripts like this!

I don't really mind McKeller, I mean I know they will *never* give us a canon McShep, all we get his subtle hintings, but I tihnk it's good to see Rodney with Keller in canon if it had to be someone. *shrug* Still would prefer to see her with Ronon so we could get some subtle McShepy goodness.

Just for the record, how awesome was The Prodigal, with all of the team doing something, and the Teyla/Michael/John balcony scene at the end? Wow. Now that, was the show I remembered!

And I remember thinking the same about Remnants (I tihnk that was the clip show one, can't remember) I would really have liked to see them do a whole story arc kinda thing with them, having the galaxy turn on the Expedition. Could have really made such a better reason for having that episode ... altohugh the whole story arc wouldnt work without a season 6. Freaking cancellations...gah!

Yeah, Bill Nye was amusing in this, and the black guy who was with him is like one of the top physics men in the US (and ironically enough, they also had his MOTHER doing a cameo - she was the lady sitting behind Rodney & Keller in the presentation.)

The Evil Couch Lump has met him once at a plastics conference many moons back.

ITA - I was on the edge of my seat and cheering for Rodney on this one. I know McKay is always complaining that others have stolen his work but he was totally justified in this episode. This was his and Jeannie's work! I was so happy when he got the public apology and saved the day. (sigh)
Gero is not the only writer on the show that just doesn't 'get' how to write women and romance. Wish they had hired some women writers at some point. SG-1 had a few eps early in the series when it was still on Showtime but that slowly faded away. 8(

MICHAEL! AIEEEE!! And Teyla! YAY! Yeah, baby! Take THAT, you bastard! Don't fuck with momma bear! She'll take your ass OUT!

Yeah, when Michael managed his sneak attack on Atlantis and then threatened the city if Teyla didn't hand over the baby? Oh hell no. You don't piss off Teyla and you totally do not threaten her baby - that's like Vesuvius taking out Pompeii there. Or, for more current events... Mt. St. Helens going off & blowing off like 1/3 of the north face.

Teyla is one momma bear you don't want to piss off.

Ronon knows what it's like to be on Teyla's bad side - she's gone & whipped his ass stick fighting when he's done something to really annoy her. (3x12 - Echoes proved that. *wicked laugh*)
