Friday morning Nerf Therapy

The development guys had a very frustrating phone call with the head honchos back East this morning. The upshot was that 60 hours of work was out the window because no one bothered to tell our guys there was a report on a previous beta that provided development guidelines.

Yeah, so. Thanks for sharing that, head office. We know we're fabulous and amazing in this office, but we don't come with ESP as a standard feature.

I had to further complicate things by telling the project manager stuff that he really didn't want to hear. Needed to hear, but didn't want to hear.

Then I shot the QA manager and thus began the Friday morning Nerf war.

I think some of the guys were a little more vicious that normal; there is a certain therapeutic satisfaction in being able to shoot someone else in the head when you're pissed off, even if it's not the victim's fault.

Why do people always shoot QA first?
We don't create the problems

Eh. It was a proximity thing. He sits right beside me.

Somehow that reminded me of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire".
We didn't spec the product
You can blame head office
And the whims of bosses
We didn't spec the product
Someone else had done it
We just tried to run it

Actually, it's because the sheriff wasn't available.
