Moments of idiocy, I can haz them...

::facepalm::

I had to put together a client store list for a service that we do - the list was posted to production at the end of May and went live June 1st.

Yesterday, we got a couple of emails stating there was a problem with the store numbers. I went back and looked at the original spreadsheet and then at the one that I'd cleaned up and submitted and noticed *right away* that there was no filter on the store number column.

Meaning that it must have been my fault.

Meaning I posted a list of over 2000 stores nationwide with the wrong frickin' store numbers.

::head desk::

I resubmitted the correct information, but it's harder to fix a broken thing than to do it right in the first place.

Also, apparently our SQL server has a bug in it, so you have to massage the data to make it behave. I can't fix it myself, since I'm not an SQL wizard - hell, I don't even have access to the server.

God, I hate it when I make mistakes, and I hate it even more when I can't fix them myself - I've ended up wasting 2 co-workers time and inconveniencing others because I screwed up the sheet.

YARGH!

Yes, but did your mistake cost your company over $2000? Mine did. You know what my boss, god bless him, said, when he called me in on the carpet?

"We're all human. Let's just try not to make that mistake again,okay?"

*g*

and also, *hugs*

I concurr; couldn't the boss just call you in & say "now go, and fuck up no more" - ?

I'm sure you've more than made up for this through genuine productivity.

I like your boss!

Actually, my boss - after teasing me - told me that he made a sorting error once that cost his previous company $20K.

So I don't feel quite so bad.

*hugs back*

Thanks!
