Geekery to the Nth degree

You know you're a geek when...

You work with Excel, and IT MAKES YOU HAPPY.
You come home excited about the possibilities you have for using Excel in everyday life.
You use "concatenate" in regular conversation. Because it makes SENSE.
You consider learning SQL so you can bypass the DA team and get the damn data yourself.
Learning a heretofore undiscovered Excel formulae that makes your life easier is not so much a "Thank God!" moment as it is a "And Lo! The heavens opened and the TRUTH was REVEALED!" moment.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyone grok me? Anyone? Bueller?

*crickets*

Ok. Just me then.

I've used Excel to predict model rocket altitudes modeling thrust, gravity, and drag, and I've used it to calculate model rocket centers of pressure and centers of gravity. And to make tables of commercial rocket tube diameters to facilitate scale modeling.

I used Excel to write a table in which I put in the base price of the item and it gives me the final price minus discounts and whatnot for one group of customers. All stuff I had to do by hand before. Now its like 30 seconds and done! I <3 excel. :)

I am a fan of "The Missing Manual" guide to Excel

and SQL queries are not that difficult to learn, it's all in knowing the database schema.

ME TOO! My personal favorite thing to use excel for is to compare two lists of data! I have to databases that I need to check against each other in various ways and I can pull a unique Identifier from both and then use ISNA(MATCH(thing one, ALL OF THE THING TWOS, FALSE)) and then if the answer is FALSE that means that the two lists match for that value.

Have you down loaded ASAP Utilities for Excel. DO IT.

DOOOOO EEEEEETTTTT .

Not an Excel user, but I'm a professional programmer. I know the feeling.
