Car repairs & Conflikt

I am very happy to have my new (to me) Ford Taurus, because I like that car SO MUCH MORE than my previous one, but faugh. Car Repair Cost Suck! I thought I should get the oil gasket changed before I drove to Seattle (oil leaks are bad) and they told me when I bought the car it would probably be around $300, but it's actually going to be $500. I have no idea if that is horrible or reasonable.

On the happy side - only three more days till I'm hanging our with moosaic4, trystel and tuto! It's been too long - last year at this time, actually!

Jazzy Girl is coming down laaaate Friday night to hang out on the weekend. She's never been to Conflikt, and I think she will enjoy it. She's bummed about missing Alec's concert on Friday, so I am hoping we can catch him in a circle sometime Saturday and she can hear him.

I have decided I am making a Canadian Comfort Kit for the interfilk auction. It will be filled with goodies you can only buy in Canada - Kraft Dinner (just not the same at Mac & Cheese!) Canadian Cheezies, Habitant soup, Coffee Crisps, Ketchup & All Dressed Chips - basically, yummy foods you can only get north of the 49th. I am hoping that it will be a fun novelty and will bring in a few bids.

Hey, mercury973, do you want to meet up and do breaky/lunch again this year? It almost becoming a tradition for us - I think we've done it a couple years in a row now.

Three more days!

After all the fuss about no longer being able to get proper Cadbury's chocolate in the USA, perhaps you should add some of that to your CCK!

Ooooh, that's a good idea!

Actually, it's interesting - apparently, some US chocolate bars that are made for Canada have a somewhat different recipe - it would seem that Canadians also prefer a creamier tasting chocolate (much closer to English) and thus the formulation of the bars here is tailored to the Canadian palate.

I was going to suggest Canadian Kit Kats, because they're soooo much better than what we have. I'm also partial to Mr. Big (which we can't get here) and, of course, there are always Smarties.

Huh, I didn't realize our KitKats were better. I've already got Smarties in the basket, and will pick up some Mr. Big as well.

Any chance of you guys showing up at Conflikt this weekend?

My wife the mechanic-in-training says that gaskets in general are very expensive, and changing them can be labor-intensive, so $300-500 sounds quite reasonable.
