So, I'm a HUGE NERD which is no surprise to anyone who has known me for more than 8 seconds.

I'm a huge SG1 and SGA fan, which only takes about 15 more seconds to figure out.

Since most people I work with know nothing of fandom, and part of what I do involves E2E testing using dummy customer data, I often slip in fandom names and data for my own amusement. Well, today the vendor made some changes to one of the surveys and sent me some test samples for the changes using the dummy data I had in there from a previous test.

Which means I just got a bunch of fake surveys for John Sheppard and Meredith McKay.

I've been snickering over that for the last half hour, but laughing even harder because I'm about the send the test to the program manager for approval. LOL!

I have John and Rodney examples all over the word problems in the online math class I teach...

No one has ever admitted to recognizing them...

I even have (what I consider) the classic:

Rodney earned a grade of 76 on a test with a mean of 70 and a standard deviation of 3. John earned a grade of 86 on a test with a mean of 80 and a standard deviation of 8. Who had the relatively better grade?

I highly approve any method that adds a little (or a lot of) SGA to our daily lives. Yippee!

I keep waiting... so far, *NO ONE* has every called me on fandom references.

Well, except the Director in my old office who almost squeed with joy the day I first wore my Writercon word shirt to the office and he *got* all the Buffy references...

I know, right? I used to put in stuff like Jane Doe (though, that's actually funny now with Blindspot) but why not make it McKay and Carter and Weir and Sheppard?

Sometimes we have to make our own fun!

HAHAH! that's pretty funny - mostly because *no one else* would get the joke.

I wonder how many word problems that we read in old math texts were some kind of inside joke by the writer that no one caught so they got away with it?

That's funny.

One of our system testers is fond of Doctor Who so we see that dummy data from time to time in examples on how to process things.

See, that's awesome. I would appreciate reading documentation that featured fannish references.
