Garden goodies

I got a plot in my community garden this year. I planted some seedlings in mid-May.

Planting 5/13

It's only been a few weeks and it's growing strong.

Garden 6/10

Today, I harvested some Swiss chard, arugula, parsley and spinach.

Harvesting 6/10

I made chard rolls for dinner - mm, tasty.

Wow! They are doing really well - you must have had good growing weather.

We really do. It has been really cool this spring, but perfect. So far, no scorcher days, though I'm sure those are coming.

I. Am. So. Jealous.

I've been working on keeping a few herbs and some strawberries and blueberries on my balcony and they always, always are contracting diseases or pests or fungi and I have a hell of a time keeping them alive (I did manage to keep a couple alive for two years or so now and boy, am I proud of myself :D). Yours look fantastic!

(also, I just love the idea of community gardens! You're so fortunate to get a plot in yours!)

Normally, I try to have a few stawberry plants and herbs on the deck and beside the front door. Last year with all the construction, the workers broke three of my clay pots, then moved my stuff off the deck with no warning and killed several more. It's been a huge pain.

But even when it's sane, there are huge trees around me - which I adore because ot makes it so cool when it gets hot in the summer, but also means I get zero sunlight on the deck, so nothing grows. Except moss.

So, yes... very glad there is a community garden literally right across the street so I can grow some things this year.
