So, I was driving back from picking the kids up from the beach and turned the corner and *Crunch!THUD* and whoa, what the hell?

I was right behind another car - I had seen a little metal thing jutting up from the street, but they rolled right over it, and were fine, so I figured it must not be sticking up very far. Oh, I was so, *SO* wrong.

I got home to discover there was viscous liquid pouring from the underside of my car. I stuck my fingers in it - oily, pink and sort of sweet smelling. If I recall correctly from my time in my Trades program, that would be transmission fluid. And I suspect the corner of that thing in the street ripped a gash in the tranny fluid pan.

Or it might possibly be power steering fluid, but I don't think so. Seems to me that stuff is kind of yellow tinted.

So. Does anyone know if you can weld a tranny pan? Or is that just crazy talk? Maybe I have to have it replaced? Anyone had something like this happen to them? Anyone have any idea what it costs to fix? Anyone know anyone who does?

Furthermore, does anyone know any *trustworthy* mechanics in Greater Vancouver? In suspect that the one I have been going to has been taking me for a ride all along, but I have no proof and don't know enough to refute anything he says. He has kept my car running, but I just don't want to go to him.

Frack. Like I need THIS on top of being unemployed in a month. Buddah on a bicycle!
