What? No Season 6?? BASTARDS!

Came home from work sick today. I think I have a touch of the flu. Blargh.

Slept for, uhm... ::peers at clock:: huh. About 6 hours. I guess I was feeling pretty shitty. That's unusual for me.

Went to check my email and discovered...

those bastards have canceled my show! Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!

OMG! They're going to take my Rodney away from me!

Okay, I may be over reacting. I understand it's just a TV show. But still. MY RODNEY! NOOOOOOOOO!!

I am very sad. I may cry real tears.

Too bad we can't threaten the PTBs with the Wraith if they don't smarten up. Gah!

No way! I hope they give some resolution or perhaps do some DVD releases like SG1 did.

Now, now; let's not lose it:

(Minneapolis-St. Paul alternative paper) dated
February 6, 2008. Page 19 reports: a 15-year old St. Paul resident
commited suicide by jumping off the High Bridge over the Mississipi
river. Despondent over cancellation of the television series
"Battlestar Galactica", on August 23, 1979.

Really?? Awww, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm only just up to season 3 of SG-1.

I know right? It totally sucks, and it's probly all just to make room for Universe... that or they just want to screw up their network.

Yeah. It looks like scifi is doing what many other networks have done before--keeping a show going until it passes the 100th show mark (syndication issues) and then cancelling it. It happened to Angel as well. However, and this might be the bright spot for SGA fans, scifi states it is planning DVD movies for SGA. The ones they did for the original SG series were successful. So it's not a total cancellation. But, yeah, it's tough going from weekly to a few times a year! Dr Who fans are facing a similar situation. We can grouse and sympathize together.

What's this about Dr Who and a similar situation?

We are not going to have a season in 2009, because David Tennant is doing Hamlet w/ the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Globe Theater in London.

He was geeking out about being on stage there during the Confidential for S03E02 - The Shakespeare ep.

Instead of recasting the role of The Doctor, they just decided to do a series of specials instead - like 3 movies, I think, for the year.

However, 2010, Dr. Who will return with a full season and a new exec producer. (RTD is handing over the reins of DW to Steven Moffat, so he can stay in charge of TW & SJA, I think.)

Well, I'll take what I can get! Why does 2010 seem so far in the future when it's only two years away? Is it that so many of the SF stories of my youth were set in that year?
Aug. 23rd, 2008 05:05 pm (UTC)
I know.... we're still nowhere close to 2001 or 2010 the stories, space travel wise, which is a damn shame! :-p

Sigh. Imagine how people felt when Firefly was cancelled after just one season.

[Did someone shout "Oh my god, they've killed Kenny!" again? :-/]
Aug. 22nd, 2008 08:42 am (UTC)
Yeah. What you said.
Aug. 23rd, 2008 01:02 am (UTC)
It's Sci-Fi - they don't get as much $$ out of SGA as they do like Eureka, which is a totally owned Sci-Fi property.

Sooo.... they decided to axe SGA (because for months, the evil bastard Joe Mallozzi has been making noises like he wants the show to end, and I'm sure that was a contributing factor.

I have no faith left in JM or PM - not after the shit they pulled w/ Weir. Last week's ep was so bloody wretched, that it just pissed off so many fans.
