Busy day baking and getting the turkey ready - we did Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, like I always do. I figure, hey, why the hell should I stress out on Christmas day? I wanna relax, eat leftovers and watch the new DVDs we acquired while the kiddies play with their new toys.

Though, actually, they went outside *by choice* after dinner to shovel the walk way and play in the snow. They may go throw snowballs at each other again Christmas day.

Vancouver is buried in snow. I would not be able to get my car out if someone's life depended on getting them to the hospital right now. I am SO GLAD that I took this week off work, but I have a horrible feeling that this is not going to be gone in a week. Gah. I do have to work on Monday and I'm foreseeing bus travel in my immediate future...

Anyway. I should be wrapping presents, and then going to bed. The children will be up, no doubt, at the butt crack of dawn (or before) and because I am an evil, cruel parent, they are not allowed to open presents until after I come down and make breakfast. I don't have a lot of holiday traditions, but this is one that I will not budge on. They can have the stockings to tide them over, but prezzies have to wait.

I think I'll go grab the last Winter Ale out of the fridge, get my ass in gear and *WRAP* these gifts so I can go to bed.

Merry Christmas!

The amount of snow is INSANE. Seriously. My dad shovelled the walkway before going out to pick me up yesterday afternoon- by this morning you could not even tell it had been shovelled!

Also, seriously, don't ever try and walk two blocks to a bus stop while carting a suitcase through the snow. BAAAAD idea.

My parents abused us kids the exact same way.

Have fun!

"because I am an evil, cruel parent, they are not allowed to open presents until after I come down and make breakfast."

Well, of course. The joy is made fuller by sharing it, and there's nothing like anticipation to whet the feeling of joy.

I hope it was happy; ours was!

Winter Ale
Isn't that stuff marvie? Twice now I've gone looking for it and the liquor store staff have rhapsodized about it. It's SO good.

Merry Christmas, Shadz. :) I have no snow here, so I will just watch in amazement from afar at how MUCH you have there. (Seriously - Vancouver having this much snow? Who woulda' thunk it! :p)
