So this actually kind sucks. I'm sure it's no surprise to most the SG folks on my Flist, but in case you hadn't already hear, they're auctioning off a whole whack of SGA props.

So, you know, if they're selling Teyla's Bantos Rods, Ronon's Gun, the MALP, the ZPM(s?) even the whole freakin' STARGATE, then it's a good bet that there is no SGA movie in the offing.

Which, you know, I said back in August.

Is this ABSOLUTE proof positive they won't do an SGA movie? I suppose it isn't. But seriously - I don't think it looks good, do you? Even Hewlett twittered jokingly a few hours ago that we should get together, buy all the props, and shoot an SGA movie. It's been pretty clear by comments that a number of the actors have made that they don't think a movie's gonna be in the works.

This really sucks. I would have been HAPPY to have JM's pronouncement that what I said was all bullshit be correct. Actually, I would still be happy to have that happen. I just don't think it will.

I know there were a lot of folks who responded to my original post saying that after what they were doing to SGA in S5, they didn't want a movie cuz it would just be the McKeller show. Or worse. But, the fact remains, no matter how you felt about the direction it was going (God know I couldn't stand the McKeller storyline) a lot of fans DID want a movie. *I* wanted a movie. And they PROMISED us one.

Dear Brad Wright,

You are a fucking idiot. You HAD a dedicated audience who *loved* SGA, and you had some crossover from SG1 because you weren't an asshat about the way you ended the flagship show. But you just HAD to get your 100 SGA episodes in the can so you could syndicate, and then you dumped SGA like a cheap hooker you picked up for a quick thrill. Then you crapped all over your established fanbase with bullshit about a new, fresh demographic and shit like that. And now, finally, you've turfed the movie you promised us - and from where I'm sitting, it looks like you were lying about it for a long time, hoping that you'd get people on board with Battlegate Voyager before you dropped the bomb.

Add to that the stupidity around the SGU plotlines that a huge subsection of the fandom found incredibly offensive that your writing team just glossed over and ignored...

Anyway. I just wanted to say that somewhere along this incredible journey, you lost that loving feeling. You're such a moron - you had gold and you threw it away.

I will continue to look to my fellow fans for plotlines that matter, characterization that makes sense and ships I can believe in. And you might want to pay attention to your colleague Joss Whedon and take a page from his book, because there's a man that pays attention to his fans most of the time, and like he says - You can't take the sky away from me.

No love,
A Fan from the demographic you don't think matters

Well. I feel a little better now.

What you said! Battlegate Voyager is a good name for it. I call it Stargate: Skanks and Skeaves.

Yeah, when I saw that yesterday about the auction, it simply reconfirmed my belief that Wright and Company were lying assholes who never really intended to do a SGA movie. I just keep praying that SGU completely flames out this upcoming season.

Hey, I was trying not to think about this. Now, you've got me really depressed!

I stumbled across the propworx auction on ebay a couple of days ago. It was pretty much confirmation to me, that an SGA movie just isn't going to happen :(.

I really don't understand how they can't see that their 'target' demographic, isn't actually the group of people that watch their shows! They try to latch onto the demographic they want with their 'new, edgy' crap, and just screw over the fanbase that got them where they are today. It honestly makes zero sense to me.

Yeah, I'm there with you. Not just because I got out bidded on a piece of the Atlantis staircase, but because- you were right. We were strung along for nothing. There might not even be a set for the con tour this year.

We're not shit to be scraped off their shoes.

ITA. I'm sure they don't care about any of it and blame it all on MGM and the economy and never on their own actions.

No one's demographic.

Ya know, I saw that too, and was pissed! I lived for Atlantis and McKay, and I want him back, badly. I need my snark like an addict needs drugs. I say we film the movie ourselves. Go independent. Hell, I'll fly to Vancouver! This indeed does suck big time. I too, wasn't a huge fan McKeller either. It just didn't work for me.

And the show was left wide ass open to boot. That's the real kicker there. Just my humble two cents.

Peace be in the 'verse.

Not surprised at all on this.... So sad :(

Yeah not surprised either...though I will admit there is an item(or three) that I'm keeping an eye on and might actually bid on (if I can...you know get over the $20 shipping for a piece of cloth) it closer to the end of auction...
