Query: Where are YOU?

Hey, Flist?

I am trying to make tentative future plans to drive back down there with the kids one day. Hopefully soonish - like, before they graduate. It may or may not pan out, who knows, but I'd like to. It would be nice to be able to stop and visit folks for a night or two, explore the area, then move on. After all, one of the most important parts of visiting is not wearing out your welcome.

The thing is, I know lots of people between Vancouver BC and Portland, a few in Eugene, then lots of people in California. Not so many between Eugene and the Bay Area. And that is an 8 hour haul between those two points. And seriously? Driving anything more than 6 hours is dangerous for me if I'm tired. Road hypnosis and falling asleep behind the wheel are Bad Things.

Are any of you located between Eugene Oregon and San Jose California, relatively close to the I-5?

Of course, if the thought of being descended upon by a Canadian traveler with kids gives you a heart attack, you might wanna just meet for coffee at the local cafe... *grin*

I'm not between San Jose and Eugene... but I am still off I-5! In glamorous (I guess) Los Angeles :-p

Yeah, I don't think I'm adventurous enough to go to LA. All you people who live there are nuts.

I mean that in the nicest possible way.

I was in the desert once. Vegas damn near killed me. I like NoCal, reminds me a lot of BC. You pretty much can't go wrong with the Pacific Northwest.

Why San Jose? Just wondering. Oh, right: http://www.cagreatamerica.com/

I technically qualify -- by, I guess, half an hour :)
(I live 30 minutes north of San Jose.)
Regardless, just to let you know, I have a guest room which you can reserve, and will be happy to meet up :)

There isn't much between Eugene and Excremento.

Let me know when you're planning to hit PDX. Even if I don't have enough space to put all of you up.

Unfortunately, I'm too far East and North to fit this query. While it would be nice to see you visit Ontario (my neck of the woods) sometime, I understand if it is awhile before that happens.

Besides, this news report about Peter Watts is making me wonder if I should *ever* bother visiting the USA ever again. :-( [Apparently, he was convicted of a felony for not obeying an American customs officer fast enough.] Uggghhhh.

Dr. Peter Watts is not the only one to recently come to grief. Here's what happened to Cheryl Morgan. While it was not nearly as bad, she probably will wind up with the same net result.

Gotta *love* paranoia, official or otherwise.

well, I'm in Portland. If I ever finish the repainting project and get rid of some junk, I even have a largish living room with a comfy sofa and a not so comfy fold out. I have a fannish friend in Eugene who you probably have not met, but who almost always has crash space available. You might even meet her if we make it up to VCon one of these years. There's a whole lot of nothing (except y'know mountains & stuff) between Medford and Redding, and I don't know fen in either of those places. Not much help, am I ;)
