Saturday morning I slept in. Mmm, nice after my week - I was still feeling jet lagged from my business trip to Kansas. It was pretty nippy there, even though it was sunny the day we left.

Not here though. Bright sunshine pouring through my window, and people have been wearing shorts for weeks already. It's May. It's Vancouver. It's practically summer compared to the climes *I* grew up in.

Jazz was still sleeping. I went downstairs to find MonkeyBoy playing on the computer and GirlyGirl watching SG-1. We're working through the series again. But. Left to their own devices, my children would never leave the house. I decided it was time for the beach.

Since they hadn't had lunch yet, I printed out a couple of recent Groupons I bought and took the kids out for the day.

For lunch, we went to the The Pirate Pub. The menu was pretty basic - appies, burgers, seafood - but it was good pub food, and the decor was cool. I could see spending a summer afternoon with friends, drinking beer while looking out over the water. Nice.

After that, we headed up to CocoaNymph. And wow. I think I found a new addiction. CocoaNymph is a sweet little chocolate shop on 10th Ave, just off Alma, a few steps from White Dwarf Books. What more could any Science Fiction geek ask for - awesome chocolate, French press coffee and a good book, all right there!

The kids got some luxuriously delicious ice cream while Jazzy and I picked out some truffles and had coffee. We tried the Liz, Barnabas the Tortise, Chariot of Fire (oh, *so* spicy!!) and Illa (Fleur de Sel) to name a few. Next time, I'm getting the The Urban Nymph. I may just need to buy the entire store.

Afterwards, we headed out to Jericho Beach for a while. The kids walked along the beach for a bit, poked at dead crabs, and then finally, buried MB in the sand. Even after shaking all the sand out of his pants, I'm sure we brought half the beach home.

You should all check out Groupon! I've already bought 5 different promos on there, from the Chocolate and the lunch coupon to the police museum and bowling. If you decide to sign up and buy some for your town, use my Groupon Referral Link so I get free stuff, kay?

They don't have my (hole in the wall) town either. But maybe I'll do that before July for Vancouver.

Which also reminds me....I has something for you for being such an awesome hostess. I should have brought it up on Friday for you (and just left it with John) but given my mental state by the end of the evening I probably would have totally spaced on it.

Vancouver sounds perfect. It's yuk here - with the smog and the cold making everything look an odd shade of horrid.
