Nick nacks from Atlantis

Saturday morning, I met pa_fangirl and mercury973 for coffee at Timmy's. We needed to fortify with caffeine before the Stargate liquidation sale. hipapheralkus had to pick her mom up at the airport first, then the two of them hopped the train to Gilmore for pa_fangirl to pick them up. After that, we all headed over the the Bridge to go deal hunting.

itsjustgwen had beaten us there and was already hunting to fund cool stuff when we arrived. We all started together, looking at books and binders - hipapheralkus found Daniel Jackson's book, "The Truth About the Pyramids" right under my nose!

It wasn't long before we all wandered off in our own directions, scattering to all ends of the wharehouse. While I don't think I found any OMG THIS WAS A KEY PROP! type of items, I did get a few cool things that I'm happy with, and birthday presents for the GirlyGirl and MonkeyBoy besides.

So here's my haul:

Some pretty fabric - a red velvet piece, a shiny gold print piece and a patterned piece of leather are all in the background - in the center is one of the tablet cases that they used on Atlantis. I dunno if this one was actually used on the show, but it's definitely the same kind we saw McKay and Radek use. Is perfect - GG can fit her little netbook in it, and it was only $5. They are at least $15 in the store.

A flight suit for GG - Jazzy's friend was over and I got her to model it. She's about the same size as GG I think, so I hope it'll fit okay. The sizes lie, BTW - this suit claimed to be a 46 long. It's not more than a 38 at best.

Oh yeah, it didn't come with the patches - I had those and just tapped them on to get a sense of how they would look.

Tac Vest for MB - this is full adjustable. It also had field dressings in one of the pockets. I had been looking at another vest that had a block of fake C4 in the pocket, but someone else grabbed it.

NID jacket from Miller's Crossing - for GG, but could be used by either of them. There were CCIS jackets too, but the NID one was cooler.

- Blue Air Force lanyard - for realz, kinda cool
- Marine Corp cup - kinda cool, have no idea if it is for realz, but makes a nice prop
- US Air Force Academy stationery - probly not for realz, cool anyway
- corner of decorative brass plate - random village prop

See? It's the one sitting on the red binder!

I am freshly amused at how he's got not one, not two, but THREE TOY PLANES - and if you notice, he's playing with his planes atop his closed Dell laptop.

I'm going to give the lanyard to the kids for keys and send the stationery to outsideth3box. I promised to find her something, and wanted to give her something more than the random brass plate prop that would have been used in any number of eppies to dress any number of small village scenes, but we have no way of knowing which ones...

Man, there were about 5 million candles and candle holders of various shapes and sizes. If I was as big into candles as I used to be, that would have been a score. Sadly, there were none that I looked at and could say, "Hey, that was in Sheppard's room," or, "I recognize that from the Athosian village" or anything like that.

I did see some wall light sconces and decorations that were clearly from the walls in Atlantis, but they were so damn BIG - and I just have no where for stuff like that.

I also got some tin cups and plates that I recall the SG1 team using off world or drinking coffee from on random eps. I snagged an office chair for $12 - likely served as a chair in a random SGC office or the labs or something - but $12! I couldn't get an office chair that sturdy for under $50 at Staples, and the girls needed one, so score! Cheap, and the added bonus of knowing that it was set design on their fave show. *grin*

Ahh, if I had more money, I'd have bought a couple of those tack vests and probably some other random costumes. And the other NID jacket for sure.

There were also tons of sewing and costuming things - thread, notions, fabric scraps, costuming supplies galore. Did I mention how if I had more money I would have bought a lot more stuff? Yeah. SO MUCH FABRIC! I showed restraint in only getting the two pieces and the one leather, let me tell you! I have decided that I need to make another corset, and the pretty fabric is going to be the out facing fabric for this one. I just need to get some heavy duty coutil and some more boning and I'm ready to go.

Oh yeah. And find the TIME. Right. There is that.

But I gotta do it, cuz it will crack me up when I wear it, knowing that this fabric was used for something Stargate related. I'm betting it was part of a Goa'uld costume.

*snort* Now I'm going to have to go back through all the SG1 episode and see if I can spot the fabric anywhere.

Hee! I was walking down the aisle looking at stuff and it caught my eye. I picked it up and thought, "Hey, didn't Sheppard play with this at the SGC?" and I had to get it... and I was right! Whoo Hoo!

That is some pretty cool stuff.

I just got Photobucket to let me upload the picture of the awesome thing that mercury973 got for me while you were all skulking around Bridge ;)

She showed it to me when she found it. *grin* We figured we would hear a squeal of joy from WA when she got to your place.

Jun. 21st, 2011 06:12 pm (UTC)
And you probably would have, had we not met at the McDonald's in town (I had to drag the kid with and I figured what better way to distract her than giant hamster tubes ;)) as I'm pretty sure my squeal wasn't audible over the kids screaming ;)
