So. Airline Ticket has been booked, and I am officially a go for the AGM in Niagara. I had been hoping to take a few extra days and fly out earlier, but that didn't work out. I'm going June 5th to 10th the Tuesday through the Sunday. Sadly, this means I will be very unlikely to have any filking opportunities. Ah, well. Perhaps some other time.

It's going to be a good conference - I am looking forward to learning things. I am not so much looking forward to presenting a report when I get back, but it's just to my co-op people, so it shouldn't be too bad. It looks like it's going to be BUSY, and the gal who was originally going to be our delegate had already signed up for all this stuff that I would never normally do - site seeing tour, networking lunchy thing, some kind of fancy dinner - and they've already been *paid* for and so now I feel obligated to go. Ugh, that kind of thing is so not me. But it would be good to meet and chat with other delegates and it will make me overcome my inertia and get out of my comfort zone (WAAAA! I *LIKE* MY COMFORT ZONE!) so I'll do them. I'll just whine about it.

Good lords, it's barely 2 weeks away. Gah!

Has the group planned to visit the Butterfly Observatory. Because ... heaven.

Also, if you do go, wear some hairspray (on your hair, duh) or perfume. It'll attract the flutterbyes to land on you. I've had them land on my hair (seriously, a touch of the holy) and shoulder when I've gone.

If you can get away, we have a filk on Saturday June 9th at Sally's - likely from late afternoon since we might have a filk concert that afternoon but the organization involved hasn't announced it - getting rather close.

Anyway, if you can get away we can put you up, but it doesn't sound likely. Too bad.

I have been running around like a crazy woman. And have not replied. I apologize.

Where is Sally's in relation to the Airport? I am seriously considering ducking out out after the delegates meeting at 5pm and catching the shuttle back to Toronto, and skipping the dinner. That would mean catching a shuttle, but that only gets me to the airport, and I have no idea where to go from there or how long it might take.

Also, I would need to be able to get back to the airport for my 6pm-ish flight on Sunday.

But. Even with all the logistical challenges, I am considering the possibility, especially if you don't mind a wayward filker crashing at your place on Saturday night.

Crashing now. Must be up in 4 hours to go to the airport. ZZZZZZZZZZ...

Oh, I'd love to see you but logistics are difficult.

Niagara is about an hour and a half from the airport, and Sally's about a 30 minute taxi - unfortunately she is nowhere near a hotel shuttle location or an easy transit ride from the airport. So you wouldn't be arriving before 7 and maybe later. And since we'll all be at the filk event, there's no one to pick you up at the airport. So you'd have a maximum of 3 hours at a filk, and I expect the taxi with tip will be over $50 (I haven't checked). It is from my place and she's farther from the highway and one short block outside the city limits; I don't know what that does to the price.

We are in renovation hell but it should be finished by Friday except for painting (upstairs). That means we can have the guest bedroom downstairs cleared for use on Saturday. And I can drive you back to the airport. If you like horses and the weather is good, you can have a horseback ride first.

Oh, feh. Yeah, getting out of here at 5 is a BEST scenario too, it could be later. And, since the co-op is paying for me to be here, if I did have networking opportunities, it would behoove me to take advantage of them.

Darn. I thank you for your hospitable invitation, though. I would have loved to come see you and Phil and the horses.

We'll make it work next time! Normally I would be able to pick you up at the airport or find another filker who was free. And a Niagara event isn't far from the Hayman's in Hamilton - but of course they'll be in Toronto that day, sigh.

I've been trying to find a business excuse to be back in Vancouver for years without luck; I haven't been there since VCON in 2008. My niece was living there then.
