Networking, meetings and workshops, oh my!

Arrived in Toronto yesterday, intact and on time. YAY WESTJET!

Seriously, when flying in Canada (and to some US and international destinations) I gotta say, Westjet is really the way to go. They are no frills without being no class. The flight attendants are invariably nice (in my experience) the seats are comfortable (even for super plus size me) they are very discrete about bringing a seat belt extender (I love it that they are so clandestine about it - hee! Like Stealth Extender Delivery) they pretty much ALWAYS blow Air Canada out of the water for prices, and on a 5 hours flight, they offer you refreshments and crackers twice. So, all things considered - pretty damn decent.

When I got on the shuttle to the hotel, I got on a shuttle full of strangers I didn't know. By the time we hit Niagara Falls, it was pretty much a group conversation. There were only a handful of people who *weren't* going to the CHF Canada AGM. Who knew that networking would start on the shuttle bus, a full 24 hours before the conference kicked off with a social? HAHA! Not me, that's for sure. I made a contact with someone from the Rooftops project, something I heartily endorse, and met someone from a co-op that is going through the same thing ours is right now who recommended going through CESS for financing our co-op housing envelope repairs. I'm gong to hunt her down and pick her brain at some point this weekend.

Hey, check out the view from the window 5 steps from my hotel room:

So now, I have almost 4 uninterrupted hours to write. My Reverse bang story is due in just under 2 weeks and I need to get it wrapped up and off to the beta. Time to ply the muse with coffee.

Oh, that is a magnificent view!!

I stayed in Manhattan once and the Chrysler Building was right across the street. Really can't compare to that, but...

Hee! Being in fandom does bring its privileges, one of which is the ability to meet'n'greet with ease.

Welcome to my neck of the woods!

Wow, nice view! I haven't been in Niagara Falls since I was a child. Now I want to go back.

Wow! That is an amazing view!
Also, your comment about writing is kind of giving me a push in that direction...I also signed up for a big bang this summer, but I've been neglecting my draft in favour of "relaxing" after work. I'm going to try to follow your example and write when I have a bit of time :)
