Home sweet home

Am home safely, having survived a week with the family, a weekend with fellow fans, and a storm that seemed determined to keep us all in South Carolina for a little bit longer.

My flight into Chicago was rough, but otherwise uneventful. The 5 hour layover was loooooong and boooooring. Also terrifying when they rescheduled my flight and changed the gate and time several times over the course of the afternoon, the final time being about 45 minutes BEFORE the flight. With no warning or announcement at the gate I was sitting at. ARGH. The only reason I knew something was up was because the board suddenly showed a flight to a different location and I got suspicious.

The actual flight into Vancouver was sparse, probably only 2/3 full. I was alone in my row. There was quite a bit of turbulence (there was a bit of stormy weather over the Pacific Northwest) but the landing was smooth and on time. Customs was quick - I think we landed between other flights, because there was no line at all - and GirlyGirl met me at the airport and helped me schlep stuff home.

I had a great time, but I am happy to be home.

Chicago was rough.....had a three hour layover and then a rough ride to Cleveland followed by a rough landing.....and was met by rain.

It was worth it!!!!!

Happy you and I hope others have made it home......

I had that happen to me once... I'm just glad I happened to notice that they'd taken my flight's info off the little reader board at the gate. Near as I can tell, they never actually made an announcement AT the gate... because I ended up going back to tell someone I'd been sitting next to about the gate change and the other people sitting around us hadn't heard about it either.

Glad you finally made it home safe and sound!

"Hairy" O'Hare Stories
O'Hare (Chicago) is notorious for changing gates & wrecking mayhem on your life.
Last year one of my sisters here in Wisconsin went to visit my sister in Alabama. The trip down was uneventful. Her return flight was in the evening and because it was past her husbands bed time (Don't ask!)... and I'm a night owl... I was assigned to drive the hour & a half to go get her. So I arrive in the city she's flying into about the time she's supposed to be boarding the plane in Chicago I get a phone call. She's basically been "bumped" and had to stay over in Chicago as there were no more flights that night into our area. It was their mix up so they had to pay for her hotel... but of course, my gas & 3 hours (round trip) in the car were not reimbursed. *rolleyes*
Then in March/April 2011 that same sister & her 5 year old granddaughter & I flew out to Maui to visit family and so I could take some continuing education for my work... and on the way out no problems. But on the way back, we arrive @ O'Hare & note where we need to go (which gate)... we immediately head there only stopping long enough to use the restroom I think we were supposed to have like an hour and a half layover. So we dash across the airport down to the very end of the opposite end only to be confronted with mayhem @ the gate (F-12). We stand in line to talk to someone and they tell us, "Oh, you're supposed to be back at F-1... We'll hold the flight for you!"
So we grab the 5 year old & run back to the plane & get on.... and one more person gets on and then the flight leaves. Of course... the luggage didn't arrive until a couple days later. *rolleyes*
Sorry to hear O'Hare was boring for you... but look at it this way, at least you didn't get "stuck" there! LOL
