My mad, crazy plan to start posting actual content on a regular basis clearly was crazy.

Ah, well. I might be terrible with regular, but I can manage some content at least!

After many, many moons of being told, "it's in the works" - that would be over a year, now - it finally happened. In July, I was officially transitioned from hourly to salaried. They looked at the amount of OT I was putting in every week, averaged it with my hourly wage and adjusted my salary to match, and they finally gave me an official, approved job title.

The first pay period, they shorted my cheque, because AS PER USUAL, head office can't cope with the fact that thing work differently in Canada and oops, sorry, they were still calculating my pay based on my hourly punches so the day I stopped punching out, they stopped paying me, which meant being shorted 3 days pay. And of course, I discovered this on the Friday, so it couldn't even be addressed to the following Monday.

It was rectified within a few days, but... gah. SERI.OUS.LY! That made 4 times since Christmas that my cheque was shorted because of stupid timecard shit. At least with being salaried now, I shouldn't have to worry about that happening again.

I like the people I work with (85% of them) and I like the work I do (most the time) but if I had to rate my job satisfaction with our HR/accounting department... ha! their NPS is in the TOILET as far as I am concerned.

Holy cow, only a month to go to SGA SQUEE Weekend! I can't wait to see everyone again, and meet the new-to-me folks. I don't think I have words to adequately express how much I appreciate the work melagan and neevebrody have done in organizing this thing and making me feel welcome. They really are a delight. I need this break LEIK WHOA.

Jewelry stuff:
I sold several bracelets this summer - YAY! I have a half-finished a website to show of my wares - pffft. I never have time to work on it. Bah. I suck. One day. Hopefully before I die.

I am considering getting a table at the Christmas market again this year; maybe if I offered a little more variety, with earrings and necklaces as well, I might sell something. Or not. The girl sold all her baking last year, though, so I think that might be the way to go. Still considering.

DUUUDE. I didn't write anything for the 10 Year Celebration of SGA. I felt like a BAD FAN. *sigh*. I haven't written anything the Reversebang. I seem to be down to writing for the bang and Secret santa. Maybe if I start planning now, I can get something completed by 2019, for the, "10 Years Since Cancellation and Still Loving It!" SGA Fest. YES? Maybe.

Speaking of which... 10 years since the inception of SGA, 5 since it's been off air. Wow. It's mind bendy.

Some of my fondest memories in SGA fandom are from events and activities I participated in with other fans.

For example, the Bridge Studio Stakeout. Even though we all knew full well we wouldn't be able to change their minds, it was immense fun to go hang out in front of Bridge Studios for the day. We shared the camaraderie that comes with having a common fannish passion, held up our signs, let the folks who worked on the show know we appreciated all they did, and chatted with the actors as they wandered in for shooting on what turned out to be the Vegas episode.

It was a RIOT to listen to n7cdrsheppard tell Martin Gero that no, actually, she did NOT have to watch the new show, thank you very much, she was quite happy with SGA.

And, what a treat it was to have David and David bring us goodies from crafty!

Then there was the completely unexpected generosity of the PTBs, who allowed us to have a tour just because we were hanging around and making noise, proclaiming our love for the show all day long.

Hanging out in the Gateroom...

Fresh off the Daedalus

Sitting in Rodney's chair...

Playing navigator on the Daedalus...

Of course, building our own Stargate was a lot of fun, too.

All the way from the initial layout;

To the finishing touches...

And what a moment of trepidation when DAVID HEWLETT actually checked it out before the parade!

Of course, AFTER the parade, in typical Hewlett goofball fashion, he acted like the adorkable geek he is and let us take lots of pictures;

I KNOW RIGHT?! Where the heck did the time go? It seems like it was just last month I was waiting for the new season to begin. YARGH.

And thanks - the work stuff is still weird to me, but I'm loving the salaried part.

Thank you for sharing the pictures! I admit I feel envious of your memories. And David Hewlett is made of pure awesome, ♥♥♥! I love that he now has a YouTube channel, so at least I get to seem him almost live :) (He's even answered a few of my comments! ^_^)

Can't wait to meet you at SW5! *hugs*

I am glad you enjoyed them!

If you are interested, you can check out the original Rally posts under the tag "bridge studios stakeout", or just look at the main ones

Part 1:

Part 2:

And the Stargate building project was a number of posts, culminating in photos from the July 4 Parade, so it's easier to just check out the Stargate Meetup Tag and see them in order.

If you want. *grin*

That is very, very cool.

If you ever meet my husband, do yourself a favor and ask him about SGU. He will go OFF. I didn't bother trying to watch it, but he did, and I think he hate-watched every minute until he finally gave up after first season. *g*

HA! Sounds like Tyson and I would have a *lovely* conversation about "Battlegate Galactica: 90210".

Where's SG weekend?
Is it a con, or a relaxacon among fiends? I must be the only person in the universe who liked all three SG series.

Re: Where's SG weekend?
You are NOT the only person who like SGU; it's just a lot of SGA fans were resentful of what they felt was a bait and switch>

"Here, watch our new show while we make an SGA movie for you... we promise... honest... oh, wait! Nope! Sorry, but you like our new show, right? Whaddya mean you don't? We don't need you anyway!"

Bah. I don't begrudge the actors, they're great, and you know, I want them to have work and be successful, but my heart just wasn't in it. I wanted SGA. *shrug*

Squee weekend is a gathering of some fanfatical dedicated SGA fans (many of whom are McSheppers) that happens in South Carolina in the fall. This is the 5th year; it is my second time attending. It's a LOOOOONG way from home for me and, as you know, airfare ain't cheap - but I am sharing a room with two others and it's a chance to spend time with people who share common interests and have fun.

We cook together in the hotel rooms (they have fridge/stove/ovens) and eat together and watch movies with our fave actors and I think, last time I went, a couple stories got written over the course of the weekend.

And crafts! tangotabby and I both make jewelry, so we're going to do something crafty.

Also, sgamadison has expressed an interest in SGA filk, so there is likely to be some singing. I think "What Would Jack Do?" will need to be on my set list. :)

How much fun is all that?! Thanks for sharing.

I was a hoot and a blast - so much fun!

You are very welcome; I am delighted when other people enjoy the photos and stories as much as I do.

God, those were great days, weren't they? At the last meetup, we were showing the new French guy our Stargate float pics and he was green with envy.

I KNOW! I was looking at them, thinking back to all the fun we had, especially those couple of days when it was just Kaliope and me at your place. It was a metric crap ton of hard work, but it was SUCH a blast building it, it was SO MUCH FUN being in the parade!

I can say, no word of a lie and with complete sincerity - GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES!

Just gotta make sure the next meet up is on a day that I am in town!
