We survived the away mission...

I had to venture to the frickin' MALL on the weekend BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

So I figured, if I *HAD* to go, I should at least go to one that is NOT Metrotown (which is CRAZY INSANE busy) and try, say, Lougheed Mall in hopes that it would be less so. HAHAHAHAHAH! FOOLISH MORTAL!

At one point I turned to my son and told him that I should have known better than to head out on a dangerous mission without an M-16 and a P90. My son asked, "What about a 9 Mil?" We ended up discussing the relative merits of Berretas v.s. Glocks while walking through the men outwear section. Now, I suppose there are a lot of places in North America such a conversation would not be particularly out of place; a department store in Greater Vancouver is not one of them. I did notice we garnered a few looks.

Our mission WAS finally accomplished, and we located a parka and snow pants that will keep him from freezing when he goes tubing up at Cypress next week. Hah! I think this will be the first real winter parka I've bought for him since he was little. We just don't need this kind of stuff here, where we typically get a couple weeks of snow at best during the winter.

It occurs to be, however, we DIDN'T looks for winter boots. *sigh* I may need to brave the mall AGAIN.

The boy and I went to see Mockingjay. I liked it. Jazzygirl has expressed some concerns over the casting - she's very much the activist regarding ethnicity in casting and how many white actors get cast in roles that are, clearly in the text of the book, NOT WHITE - and I agree with her and think it's an important issues, but I still think Jennifer Lawrence is fantastic and did a wonderful job.

Question to the Flist: Do I want to see Interstellar? I thought I did, but I am reconsidering.

On a holiday note, I got cards in the mail from starbuckssue and from sunnyd_lite! Whee! Thank you guys!

I will be taking this week off work. That being said, I'm probably going to remote in on Monday anyway, because I got at least two work related emails today about locked accounts and reporting requests for team scores, and I *know* that the sup requesting the data needs it for her team's yearly bonus calculation. That stuff is going to be a massive PITA to calculate because of data abnormalities already, so the sooner I can get it to her the better.

I try NOT to be an asshat to my colleagues if I can avoid it.

Mad crazy plan for tomorrow: since Jazzy and I pretty much packed up and mailed out all the cookies we made during out big cookie baking weekend, I think I will press the GG and MB into making cookies tomorrow. And since I have this wonderful new stand mixer, it makes sense to put it to work.

Hmmm. My only reference for P90 is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-90 which, of course, makes a fine weapon too...in the right hands. :)

And this is why I adore filkers...

Agreed. I can think of several folks who could use such an item expertly.
