Isn't it funny how, even after years in fandom, it's easy to be surprised? Or maybe it's just me.

I was nosing about AO3 last night and suddenly found myself wondering, "Do you suppose there is any Scorpion fic?" So I looked, and lo, there was. Who knew?

estepheia mentioned the other day that one of the nice things about Scorpion is it's nice and light, unlike, say, Criminal Minds or CSI - and don't get me wrong, I like those shows and characters, but there's only so much darkness I can take. I've had to literally walk away from episodes of Criminal minds because something in the episode triggered me. There is a lot of graphic violence and gore in these shows, and sometimes it's just too much for me.

In any case, I have really been enjoying Scorpion. I really enjoy ensemble shows where all the characters are given enough depth and backstory that I can become invested in them, and I gotta tell you, I'm sold. I love Happy (scrappy girl, that one!) and Toby (interesting head case) and Sylvester (I have a soft spot for the nervous, insecure math genius) as well as Paige and Walter. Also, I just can't help myself - my brain insists the Agent Gallow must be Colonel Sumner's cousin or some such. TRU FAX, DON'T EVEN TRY TO DISSUADE ME.

Also, I wish that could actually write STORIES as easily as I get IDEAS. Because I just keep thinking that Ralph is going to play this interesting game that you have to be a math genius to figure out (Sylvester pointed it out to him) and then someone will ask him to join their group for special geniuses. Meanwhile, up in Canada, Madison is playing the same math game, and gets the same invitation. They accept, and within hours, both children vanish.

In days to come, Homeland and Homeworld security end up linking the two kidnappings through the fact both children were playing the same online math game, and Scorpion meets the SGC. Back on Atlantis, after the weekly check in, Sheppard gets a compulsion to go sit in the command chair; when he does, Atlantis communicates to him like never before. It's mostly impressions, images and an intense feeling of imminent danger, but he gets two things, very clearly. One, he HAS to get to Earth right now and find a friend, a ranger he knew in Afghanistan, and two, the word Samaritan.

Bah. It would make a FANTASTIC story.

(I am enjoying Scorpion too for exactly these same reasons)

Oh, the BF and I are watching Scorpion regularly, for all the reasons you name! But OMG, AGENT GALLOW IS SUMNER'S COUSIN! YES!! *mad cackle*

And I can see it, I really can. :-)

That's not a story I can write - but I'd read it!

I haven't actually gone looking for Scorpion fic, but I might, once Xmas and our usually holiday madness is over...

Hi! I just came across this post because I was searching for Scorpion fics, or more precisely a livejournal comm dedicated to Scorpion. You don't know of one by any chance? (I'm not good at finding these kinds of things -- which is why my search engine directed me here, just because you mentioned Scorpion.)
