I think about posting fairly regularly. I hear funny or interesting things, or I have a deep thought - I can have them - but generally, after working in front of a computer all day, I just want to work on bead stuff or paper crafts or something that is not computer related.

I've been reading FB more because so many people from LJ have moved over there. I generally don't like to post there because the idea of having my real name associated with fandom stuff in a public forum makes me panic. I've had work people ask if I can add them or they can add me on FB and then I start twitching...

Back when the interwebz were new, mumblety mumble years ago, the number one thing that everyone drilled into you was NEVER, NEVER USE YOUR REAL NAME and also never share any identifying information about yourself. Not ever. Nope Nope Nope. That way lies madness, don't be crazy. I just can't get past that.

If I made a FB page under a pseudonym, I wouldn't mind posting fandom and filk stuff, but the idea of having to maintain two account makes me want to roll my eyes, say urgh and reach for the power off button.

I spend more time on FB now because, yes, more interaction and more stuff going on there. But I know what you mean about not wanting to be there under your real name.

I think the only way LJ will survive is if people continue to post and comment here. If fandoms were active here, that's where people would be. My two cents. ;-)

I only use facebook to keep tabs on family and then not often. I'd rather pick up the phone.

I haven't yet found an interface that words as well as LJ for what I'm looking for.

Like you, I'm not going to be posting slash on facebook anytime soon. ;)

I dropped my 'real' FB page. I couldn't stand the rhetoric coming from my own family and hated that every time I sneezed, thirty-seven clients commented on it.

I'm there as my alternate personality, whom is much more interesting and has cooler friends than my real life self. ;-)

I am glad that you post here - it's my fave, even if I am a bad social media girlfriend and ignore it too much. *grin*

Psst...my Facebook badge is in my profile here. Add me if you'd like! I hope you're well! I am trying to post here regularly again.

Thanks! And I am glad you are here!

Facebook is real life only. I get all itchy when anything crosses over. I have fannish friends there (and plenty of them) but only those who, like me, keep RL and fandom strictly separated. :)

I hear that, loud and clear.

i heard a quip a while ago, that back in the early days of the internet, we were afraid someone on the internet would find out our real names; now, we're afraid someone IRL will find us online O_O

I spend most of my fannish time these days on tumblr, but that's a mixed bag in itself. It's impossible to have a conversation there, sort of anti-social media.

That? Needs to be on a t-shirt. It's hilarious - and TRUE.

Ahhh, tumblr. That where my daughter hangs out, and it seems like the haven of the angry protesters of every stripe. It makes me a little leery of giving it a serious try, but I know some people love it there.

Gotta say, LJ is still my first and true love in terms of having ongoing conversations.

i think it depends who you follow - I keep my follow list to mostly fandom related stuff and I use a lot of keyword blocking to keep my timeline free of the things I don't want to see. It's so subject-related there, not individual based. It's a bit isolating and hard to form connections. But at least more activity so it keeps things interesting.

I do enjoy the conversations we can have here on LJ and on DW too - just a matter of bringing people back and keeping them here, i think :)

I could never post fannish stuff under a real name. I'd feel way too awkward about it. It's like seeing people post fannish content while using an icon of their face or kids - it just puts me off something fierce.

Yeah! Milder fannish stuff, ok, like maybe if you went to a con or the kids are in cosplay, but you start talking about fanfic and some of the deeper fannish discussion - well, that just makes me twitchy.

Speaking of things that make me twitchy: People who comment on porn with icons of themselves. I know there used to be at least one such woman around, and I was completely baffled by her.
