All day yesterday, I heard the *smash* *tinkle* of someone breaking the windows in the house across the street.

This morning, city workers started digging something up in front of my house, and then the demolition on the house across the street began in earnest.

At 7:30 am.

Buddha on a Bicycle! I thought the noise bylaw was for 8am. YARGH.

Working from home is going to be sucktastic for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, especially since I was trying to sneak in and extra 20 minutes of sleeeeeeeep... the nice thing about working at home is I can *literally* roll out of bed and turn on my computer and be at work before I finish getting dressed.

No extra sleep for me today. /whine

I do not miss the days when I had to be up at 4:45am, no siree!

Oh wow! Yeah, I would not be thrilled about that happening at 7:30 in the morning either!

Indeed, it is a sub-optimal time for construction to be taking place. At least they don't work weekends - thank god. That would be too much.

I would be sorely tempted to pull some Arthur Dent-level protest at this! :P

I have the noise control bylaw page bookmarked, ever since the same thing happened to me. They can, alas, start at 7:30. For a night owl who works from home, it was super annoying.

Bah. Sucks! I know these feels.

On a more positive note, however - I miss yous guyz and think of singing with you often. We should do that again sometime. Soonish!

Yup, that's when my city started working on the main street one block over.

Such fun listening to constant banging and that "beep, beep" of construction equipment backing up.

Oh goodness, that sounds awful. :(

Maybe ear defenders/plugs could help in with working in the meantime, they tend to be a mite cheaper than noise cancelling headphones.

Once the start building the new house, I am sure I will need something to mitigate the noise. But for the mean time, it's quiet again, so that's good at least!

Are they building a hyperspace bypass? ;-)

That sucks. Maybe the noisy part will be taken care of quickly...then it will all be about building a house out of kittens?

Okay I clearly need to go to bed, I don't even know what I am talking about anymore!

I did consider Vogon Poetry to try and make it stop. :)

Building a house out of kittens... yes, you clearly need sleep.

Now if it was a house full of kittens, I would have no arguments with that at all.

Wow! That's early - but maybe if the are starting early they'll finish the noisy stuff really quickly?

Noisy stuff seems to be finished for now - more coming later when they start building. But I will take my joy were I can find it and current silence = yay!

Why on earth are they tearing down a house?!?

Good questions. Terrible answer - because, Vancouver. That about it. Property is worth $$$$$ here, so unless it's a brand new fancy shmancy house, it's very much buy/demolish/build/sell in this city.

I would very likely not be able to afford the area where I currently live if I was not living in a housing cooperative.

And on Tuesday the owners of the property where I live cut down EVERY SINGLE TREE. 10 beautiful, tall, firs.

OH! That is *so* sad. Heartbreaking.

In Vancouver, unless there were safety issues with the trees being unstable, the city would be unlikely to give permission to remove 10 trees from your property. That's just mind bendy.
