So here's a question for you...

For the purposes of my story, I have already decided. But, I am curious to know what you think.

Can a wizard apparate through an active Stargate?

Why or why not?

edited to add: if yes - can they do it from the opposite side the wormhole was initiated from?

Only if they've been there before. I think there's a rule that to apparate you must be able to firmly picture the 'landing' location.

Otherwise, I think they'd be able to get there even if the gate was closed...

Hmm. Now I'm second guessing myself.

I think there are limits on apparation in terms of energy. For example, not being able to apparate half way around the world because it takes too much power. My theory is that the wormhole, like a tesseract, brings two spots closer together. Then again, the scenes of wormhole travel in stargate always leave the impression of having traveled a great distance though a tube, so I'm not really sure.

The having been there, right, forgot about that. Hmm. What if you have a video feed? So you can see it clearly? Do you have to have actually been there?

I think only a port key ignores the rules of distance, but I read that the person creating the port key has to have ben there.

As long as the person has been to the destination before, they can apparate. Though through a wormhole...hmm. Honestly, I think you have to figure out how apparating works, first. Wormhole travel is when your body is broken down to atoms and sent through the wormhole - and then reassembled on the other side. What happens when you apparate? Are you also breaking yourself down to the atoms and reassembling somewhere else? Are you sending yourself into a pocket dimension and back out again, at your destination? If it's the latter, then you're not really breaking down your atoms and reassembling on the other side of the wormhole, because you're INSIDE the pocket dimension when traveling...so are you even traveling through the wormhole at all?

There's a lot of talk about wormholes and matter - wormholes are one way for some reason, the only thing they can send through both ways is a radio signal. So once you work out how apparating works, you could then decide if you can apparate both ways.
